Mobil Gargoyle™ Arctic Oil 155, 300, and Mobil Gargoyle™ Arctic C Heavy products are high performance naphthenic mineral oils primarily intended for use in refrigeration compressors. They have low pour points and excellent fluidity at very low temperatures by virtue of being almost wax-free. Consequently, use of these Mobil Gargoyle Arctic oils helps to ensure that evaporator tubes are kept clean to improve heat transfer and to reduce downtime for maintenance. They have good chemical stability and are suitable both for cylinder and bearing lubrication.

Mobil Gargoyle Arctic Oil 155, 300, and Mobil Gargoyle Arctic C Heavy are compatible with most refrigerants except sulphur dioxide. They are not recommended for use with HFC refrigerants. The moisture content of Mobil Gargoyle Arctic Oil 155, 300, and Mobil Gargoyle Arctic C Heavy oils is very low when the oils are packaged. Every precaution should be taken to keep the oils dry to avoid the formation of ice in expansion valves, and to limit the risks of oil degradation, copper plating, etc.

Mobil EAL Arctic Series are high performance Environmental Awareness Lubricants (EAL) that are fully synthetic products designed specifically for the lubrication of refrigeration compressors and systems, using ozone-friendly HFC refrigerants. (HFCs are chlorine-free products replacing chlorine-containing refrigerants in the world market).They are also recommended for carbon dioxide applications, with appropriate miscibility for proper oil return to compressor (typically piston  type applications).   Mobil EAL Arctic Series oils are formulated from proprietary synthesized Polyol Esters (POEs) and a unique additive system to provide outstanding lubricity, wear protection, chemical and thermal stability, and hydrolytic stability. They are miscible with HFC refrigerants and have well-defined viscosity/temperature/pressure relationships with a widel range of HFCs. The performance of the Mobil EAL Arctic Series has been well documented with HFCs in a broad range of refrigeration and air conditioning systems and are used by many major compressor and system builders around the world.

Mobil EAL Artic Series are recommended for use in household and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems where HFC or carbon dioxide refrigerants are used.

The Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC™ 200 Series are fully synthetic, superior performance lubricants, specifically designed for use in refrigeration compressors and heat pumps. They are formulated from wax-free, synthesised hydrocarbon polyalphaolefin (PAO) fluids, which have outstanding resistance to thermal/oxidative degradation. With their naturally high shear stable viscosity indexes and low temperature fluidity, they are able to perform in severe service conditions that are beyond the capabilities of many conventional mineral oils. Their solubility and miscibility with commonly used refrigerants is low, resulting in higher film thickness in the presence of refrigerants under pressure. This can help to reduce shaft seal leakage. Their stability and low volatility characteristics reduces the  "light end stripping" which can occur with conventional mineral oils. Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 200 Series lubricants may help reduce frictional losses and improve machine operating efficiencies.

Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 200 Series lubricants are recommended for the lubrication of refrigeration compressors operating at very high temperatures, and for systems with very low evaporator temperatures. They are suitable for compressor systems using refrigerants such as ammonia and carbon dioxide. Their  low miscibility with carbon dioxide makes them a suitable choice for screw compressors using carbon dioxide. They are compatible with most common refrigerants, except sulphur dioxide, and have been particularly successful in systems using ammonia as the refrigerant. Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 200 Series are fully miscible with most conventional mineral refrigeration oils. Any mixture with mineral oils may detract from the outstanding performance properties of the Mobil synthetic product.
